Practice Memorization Activities
Below are a couple sample memorization activities that can be memorized using one of the three methods taught in this website. You must use the given memory technique, and attempt to complete each activity in under 5 minutes. You can check your understanding by writing the memorized information down on a separate piece of paper, or you can cover the answers on the screen and say the information out loud.
ACTIVITY ONE: The List Method
Below are 12 nonsense words from a made-up language and their "definitions." Study the list for 4 minutes (time yourself!) and try to remember each word, how it is spelled, and it's definition. Once finished, write down each word and its definition without looking at the list.
To use the List Method in this activity, try creating a story in which you utilize and link together all of the vocabulary words (in the correct context).

ACTIVITY TWO: The LOci Method
Listed below is your grocery list for the week. Using the Loci Method, in which you will associate each item on the list with parts of a space or building that you are very familiar with, study the list for 3 minutes (time yourself!) and try to memorize all of the items on the list; you won't want to forget anything when you make that trip to the grocery store. After the 4 minutes have passed, write down or say aloud as many of the items as you can remember.
Activity 3: The Peg Method
Below is a set of instructions on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Using the Peg Method (you will first have to memorize the rhyming pegs, which can be found here), try to memorize each step of the sandwich-making process in order. After 5 minutes of studying the instructions, attempt to recall each specific step in order, using the Peg Method. To test your use of the Peg Method, you can share the set of instructions with a friend, or write them down on a sheet of paper.
